It is often a little hard to take anything away from a game where the opposition crumbles so substantially that the score approaches 100 points as it did last night. However what can be said is that Lloyd’s did what was necessary to break the defence and will of a team that for 10 or 15 minutes of the first half put up reasonable resistance.
As far as performances are concerned all of the team hardly put a foot wrong all night apart from the author of this report mistaking the 5m line as the try line with his first touch of the ball and attempting a try that was never to be and also throwing a howler of a pass when the try line beckoned.
It may be a little churlish to pick out individuals on a evening when as a team Lloyd’s were so, as Goldmember says; “tight”, but those players who are definitely worth a mention are Guy House at 10 who directed traffic both aerial and ground whilst scoring two or three and slotting a fair share of the conversions and two penalties.
Gary Holmes dominating the back row for the first 40 mins, Al Cockblockerton for being the Lloyd’s lineout and the front row for making it such and unpleasant night for their Deloitte opposite numbers. Ben Kelly being all over the pitch at 7, along with James Cowan, Chris Copping and Laurie S-C who were razor sharp on the wings.
A good performance all round, well done to those who turned up.
Next up Linklaters (11th Nov) and CLOB (18th Nov) back to back followed by the dinner on the 19th Nov for which you will receive emails nearer the time.
