Lloyd’s RFC 7s Squads Dominate in Menorca

May 2014

With the wealth of talent available within Lloyd’s RFC at present the 7’s arm of the club is also reaping the rewards. Two very competitive teams were selected and entered into the Menorca 7s last year, and their success did not disappoint.

Competing in sweltering conditions, both teams started as they meant to go on with a huge work rate, unselfish team play and individual brilliance- the perfect cocktail to bring home the first few wins of the day. Essential to all sport, and especially in the heat, a very professional attitude to stay well hydrated at all times was maintained throughout the day and this showed in our results as both sides continued to tear all opposition to pieces. Although the local competition and a touring Willis side put out some brave performances both LRFC teams skittled their way to the final, finishing the competition placed 1st and 2nd. There were plenty of outstanding performances both on and off the field, with more silverware for the LRFC trophy cabinet.

With the addition of 7s in the next Olympics, it’s great to see that LRFC have the talent and ability to compete and be victorious at the one of the world’s fastest growing sports.
